Well, my math teacher was out today... AGAIN... but the teacher she shares an office with came in to teach the class. His name is Mr. Bryan... I don't know exaclty how we got into it, but after class I talked to him about learning and teaching math. He told me that in college, he never understood things on the first try, so you try and re-try until you get it right, it does not mean that you are dumb or not supposed to do it...
That got me thinking... if he can do that, why can't I?
Just because you don't get something on the first try does not mean you won't ever get it... It just means you need a different perspective on it.
So, after talking to him, I felt confident and went in to speak with an academic counselor about changing my major and what classes I still needed to take for both of my majors. Well, when I got in and sat down and explained to her what my plan was... she laughed at me!!! Well, not an out-n-out, HAHAHA. But you know that kind-of scoff, haha, yea, whatever, type laugh guesture some people do when they think your stupid or incapable?
THAT is what she did... Then she said something like, "Wow, you must really like you math teacher." and I said "Yes, I do, she's awesome, she has a really good teaching style." then she said "Well, your going to end up changing your mind again after you begin all the math classes, but you'll know for sure after you take trig."
I was like OMFG, are you kidding me? What kind of counselor are you, your suppose to be supportive! Well, at least that is what I would have liked to say....but I bit my tounge like a good girl, and said "Maybe I will, but I think I can do it, and I'm willing to take that risk, I guess I will find out after trig, huh?"
So, that kinda put a damper on my morning... Oh well, some people were meant to do certain things.... being a counselor was not her calling... Hopefully majoring in math IS mine. I'd LOVE to go back and see her and prove her wrong. *smirk*
I still have A LOT of classes to take, see, the first counselor I went to see, only gave me a couple semesters view of classes and I assumed he would do it each semester and I would go good to go after 2 years... well the 2nd counselor I went to see laid it ALLLL out for me and I realized I had A LOT more classes to take than I thought, and I was good to go until I decided to change my major... again... So now, just for fun, i will tell you the clases I need to graudate from COS by the end of next spring:
Speech, English 2, English 4, Linguistics 10, Nat Science 131, Biology 20, Geology, Phsy 5, Psy 6
Math 10, Math 11, Drama 1, History 17, Gov't 5, History 24, Trig, Pre-Calc, Calc 1, Calc 2, Clac 3, Differential Equations.......... 22 classes in 2 semesters.... I don't think that is gonna happen...

So, no rehearsal until the 20th.... but I do have a board meeting tonight at the Ice House... sometimes they take forever, and once or twice they've only lasted a couple hours....

I thought about taking a year off after graduating COS to intern at SCICON... I mean, what I would do is apply for admission at FSU, and for an internship, plus apply for scholarships, so if I didn't get the internship I could go to FSU, and if I get an Internship, I could go there and save the money I get for college.... it would be in the neighborhood of $10,000, but I figure about $8,500, will be my total after my vehicle and necessities, (clothing, hygiene stuff, snacks, etc) expenses.....

Well, I am gonna go watch Sylvia Browne on Montel and then do some homework!
Techie

Ask Sylvia Browne if you're meant to be a math major. Hee hee
Math and business both sound like hard things to major in to me, but they're both things I was awful in.
You are probably great at them.
