Today was my last day of physical therapy. And, basically, we didn't really get anywhere. None of the PT has helped, in fact most has made it worst. Knowone seems to know what the heck is wrong with my knee.... Soooo, I go back to see my ortho on Tuesday.... and we will go from there.... and well, there really are not any more options for me...
However, I was, today, *diagnosed* with HMD, aka Hyper Mobility Disorder. There are a total of 10 points you are tested on and anything above 5 is considered testing positive. I got, technically, 8 of the 10 points, but 2 are questionable. Nonetheless, -2 is still 6 and is still positive. Great...
Basically, there is no cure or real help for this... and I am basically 'benched' for life... at least, if I don't want to have pain. However, my PT did say she'd like to see me working with athletes with the same problem. It's not a highly known disorder and so she said that athletes that do have it are never typically diagnosed and spend their whole athletic careers in pain.
Finals are almost over.... yay!

And because I am a slacker I have not updated in almost 2 months!
Soo... since my last post... (the post I ranted because I was BENCHED!!!!)
Since then I have been to the Ortho... it tooks about 3 weeks from that point to get the results of xrays, MRIs and go for for them.... the results? Clean. Everything was clean.
Soooo, I have been doing physical therapy. With, none other than my doctors wife! (Who is awesome, by the way.) She and her staff of PT aides are great, I actually don't mind going!
I've been going 2x a week and have not really gotten anywhere... in fact my knee has been pretty swollen.... last week they did this treatment where they place an electrode like patch on the upper thigh and a medicated patch on the knee where the pain is. Depending on how much pressure the patient can handle and the amount of time it takes to push the medicine in through the pores [in the skin] into the knee tells us how swollen the joint is. Apparently the joint was VERY VERY swollen because it took over 23 minutes to finish... AND when the patch was taken off there was blood on it... so apparently it had to work really hard to get the medicine into my joint!
Yesterday, [11/30], COS had a basketball game... I went and cheered, (did a couple jumps, and few cartwheels and ONE stunt)... and by half time my knee was VERY (visably) swollen. So I had to sit and ice it for the remainer of the game.
Today, [12/1], I went in for PT and when I reported a lot of swelling and pain to the aide, he put me in a room so my PT "J" could check me out.... basically, what she found is that we've just been agrivating my knee joint. SO, we are going to change my workouts to "closed chain" which just means that the foot of my bad knee will stay on the ground and I will not do lifting exercises, etc, with it. Anyhow, we found that the main part of the problem is my knee joint.
Also, "J" has been taping my knee. She uses different methods (and special, expensive tape) to try and lift my patella and keep it in place and relieve some pressure on the joint. However, today, we had cheer pics! And so I went in about 5:30pm to have her tape so I would not have tape on in the pics! Pictures went okay, I will try and post them when we get them!
When I went back in to be taped, she told me, "I won't lie to you, this may be something we can'tt fix just with pt, you might just need surgery"....

Just when I thought I had all my shopping done.... my co-workers at TC, and the cheer squad have decided to have christmas parties and SECRET SANTAS!
Ugh... I'm tired of spending money on other people.... lol, kidding. It's really hard to buy for people when you don't know them THAT well.... Sooo, gift cards anyone? That way, they can buy what they want!
