The Adventures of "Smart Ash"
Just me and my occasional ramblings!

Well I have come to terms with the fact that I am going to be a COS for 4 more semesters. I have 22 classes to take and that does not include math classes, aka Trig, Pre-calc. I have decided to keep my Business major instead of changing to a math major. And it's NOT because I can't do it... it's because the only thing I can do with a math major is teacher math, and if I teach math I DO NOT want to teach middle or high school math, I'd want to teach college, maybe my mind will change. But for now, a business major is more practical, guess I am cursed with that "practical over want gene" at least to a certain extent. I mean, I could still do it... but as much as I love math, just like singing... it does not matter how much you want it, if you don't have it, you just don't have it. Granted I could work super hard, but I am just not a super math kid. So, I am a Liberal Studies and Business major. I am going to streach the remaining class over 4 semesters and still take extra math classes, so if I ever change my mind, I will have those classes under my belt.

As for theatre... my 2 week break was GREAT! Going back was like going to Wal*Mart after you have already been there 3 times, but still managed to forget SOMETHING.

I am supposed to prompt...let me repeat that: ASHLEY is prompter: Director, Writer and DIT, keep your *!*&#*&^!%*&^#%*&!^%*@&^!@#*&^#*&^ mouthes SHUT.
Apparently, every person who is not on stage feels the need to help me. If you have ever been on stage and called for line it is REALLY annoying to have more than one person call it...and if you've ever prompted, it's even more annoying to wonder who you are going to have to yell over.
The first night I confronted the director and he told the other to let just me do it... then last night everyone jumped in again, I was so uptight about it I just left.

To add to the frustration I am not going to be able to run the show from either front corner of the stage because he has the grand curtain down and everyone can see right backstage..That ALSO mean I have to really limit my red light use to keep it from spilling out,.... And to put the icing on the cake... I am not going to be the one moving sets...

So, I can't have proper stage room to run the stage and manage the actors... i can't have enough light to see backstage... though I am more worried about the actors, I can see just fine in the dark, its the actors coming off stage from bright lights that I am worried about... I don't have time to clean up blood or stress about replacing an actor when someone really does "Break a Leg"....
We open next Friday... I am still promtping...lights are not done, the set is not done, costumes are not done...and actors a not memorized on several parts... Ahh... the makes of a 4 star show... and to top things off, it's the world premier of this show...

ONE more show...just one... I think...

I applied for a job at the YMCA summer camp as a counselor. I think I have a chance... I REALLY hope I get the job... its good pay and I get to do something I love... It's similar to SCICON.... If I get the job I will not be able to do the last show... Boy will MnE be suprised when they ask me to Stage Manage....and I say NO. I will be a little sad... I have been looking forward to this show ALL year! Oh well.

Thats all for now...

Techie

I will be there for over 2 months... I will have to pack like... my entire closet and dresser! PLUS bathroom stuff and laundry detergent and everything... wow...
